What is KWI?
The purpose of the Humboldt State University Klamath Watershed Institute is to promote an unbiased scholarly
and scientific effort that encompasses many subjects of interest to the Klamath basin, and in communication with various
institutions and agencies.
The Institute's goals are to:
- Create a high-profile institute within Humboldt State University to provide policy analysis and to make progress in
preserving, restoring and making sustainable the resources that naturally lie in the Klamath Basin.
- Promote high scholarly opportunities.
- Encourage collaboration between other research efforts and propose new areas of research and scholarship.
- Serve as a clearinghouse of information
The enabling objectives associated with the aforementioned goals are to:
- Collect, analyze and disseminate data to the public and to policymakers.
- Create alliances in each objective area for the purposes of developing research projects that are consistent with
national standards.
- Collaborate with other institutions, tribes and agencies to continue and enhance existing ongoing projects and goals,
while providing infrastructure to support student involvement and community success.
- Promote capacity-building and professional research programs for faculties.
